ABOUT LUKE TOOMEY
I’m a small town kid hailing from Huntly, New Zealand, now residing in the mighty Bay of Plenty. I was lucky enough to have two extremely motivated, hard working and supportive parents who never settled for anything less than my best effort - a value still coursing through my veins.
Although education was always top priority in my household, competing in sport preoccupied my soul. I competed at a national level across 3 different sports but golf was the one I daydreamed about the most. Playing for Manchester United or the Black Caps never really lit my fire, but you could bet your bottom dollar I was thinking about holing a putt to win The Masters during math class.
I’m one of those rare types that plays golf for a living and comes home to watch it on Youtube, check the latest in PGA Tour news, flick through social media for popular tips and fads, and watch re-runs of Major Championship history.
I absolutely adore this game and count my lucky stars everyday I get to do this as my chosen career path.
For me, everyday is a new opportunity to better myself as both an athlete and a human being. I pride myself on having the courage to leave no stone unturned and to be curious in the face of adversity.
Even when going with what I know might be the best option for today’s performance, I make it my mission to seek growth for the betterment of tomorrow.
I have a lot to give back to this game. Having played for 25 years I would love nothing more than to share its teachings, its joy, and its wildly frustrating yet all-consuming nature with you.
